Scanning

This is the phase where hacking starts.

Check for any other devices attached to target.

Find vulnerabilities as much as you can.

Gaining Access

This is the phase where actual hacking is done.
Gain access in the victim's system, without being noticed.
Use all the information obtained, analyze, and launch the full-fledged attack.

Maintaining Access

This is the phase after you have gained the access.
Install backdoors in the system for future use.

Clearing Up

Once you're done, clear anything in the system that can lead a way to you.
If done properly, anyone can't trace you back.
